Ensure Your Pest Control Business Meets State Law Requirements For Arizona
My name is Alan Pugh. I entered the Pest Control industry in 1981, working for a small 4 employee company. I became a Certified Applicator in 1982, and began in the industry running a general pest route. Shortly thereafter, I received extensive training in termite treatments and inspections. The owner sold the company in 1986 to one of the largest pest control companies in the West. During that time, I broadened my knowledge to include commercial food handling establishments, including USDA facilities. I worked for that company, and after 4 years supervised a crew of 10 individuals. I later became one of the Qualifying Parties after obtaining my QP in the fumigation category. (I now have QPs in 6 categories).
In 2001, I changed career paths somewhat, and started working for the Arizona Structural Pest Control Commission (SPCC). I became an Inspector, during which time I became Certified in all 7 categories of licensure. During this time,I learned how to conduct all the inspections you and your business will encounter. Additionally, I learned how to conduct Investigations. While working for the State, the Agency morphed into the Office of Pest Management (OPM), and its current incarnation under the Arizona Department of Agriculture- Pest Management Division (PMD). During my time with the State, I was an Inspector, Termite Projects Coordinator, an Investigator, and eventually the Supervisor of all of the Inspection staff. As their Supervisor, I was intimately involved in each Investigation conducted by the division. I trained the inspectors how to conduct the very inspections you as a licensee will encounter.
This experience is what allows me to provide a unique perspective to your business since my work consisted as both a Licensee and a Regulator.
